Thirteen years after the closure of their blast furnaces, a symbol of Mittal's financial strategies, employees at the Florange steelworks are once again expecting the worst. Following the recent announcement of the elimination of nearly 200 jobs at the Moselle site and delays in investment to decarbonize production, the CGT union fears a gradual withdrawal from the multinational and a definitive closure by 2030. The site's CGT union representative, Frédéric Maris, asserts that nationalization could be the solution to Mittal's failings.
